• Stockholm Archipelago Lectures
• KTH Environmental Humanities Laboratory an der Division of History of Science, Technology and Environment präsentiert eine Vorlesungsreihe mit David Lowenthal:
  "The Stockholm Archipelago Lectures: Quest for the Unity of Knowledge", Stockholm, 3.-19. September 2012.
  
  David Lowenthal, Professor Emeritus at the Department of Geography, University College London, is widely acclaimed for his writings and lectures on conservation, cultural heritage and its relation to history. Among his many influential works is the seminal book The Past is a Foreign Country (Cambridge, 1985), in which he analyses the multiple and ever-changing roles of the past in shaping our lives. He examines the roots to the modern cult of preservation and pervasive nostalgia and explains why the past remains as potent a force as ever in human affairs. In The Heritage Crusade and the Spoils of History (Cambridge, 1998) he highlights the late 20th century obsession and commercialization of heritage, and its transformation from a small elite preoccupation into a major popular crusade.

  In September 2012 KTH Royal Institute of Technology offers a graduate course featuring David Lowenthal. Professor Lowenthal will give a number of public lectures spanning the various subjects covered during his long and successful career, some of which will also serve as the basis for the course.

• CFP Schwedisches STS-Meeting 2012 an der KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, 2. bis 4. Mai
• Dear STS scholars in Sweden and beyond,
  We would like to invite you to the next STS-meeting, which will take place at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, May 2-4, 2012. In the tradition of STS meetings in earlier years, we seek to bring together the diverse and dispersed community of STS, to provide room for presenting current research, exchanging ideas, discussing projects, and networking. We encourage submission of proposals for individual papers and entire panels. Thematically open, we welcome contributions from all STS-related fields, from history, sociology, and philosophy of science, technology, and environment, to provide the broadest spectrum of STS-related research in and beyond Sweden. Moreover, we seek suggestions for alternative formats. These could be, among others, roundtables debating the hotspots issues in the field and/or of public interest or author-meets-critic sessions on recent publication. To be as inclusive as possible we plan to have a bilingual meeting and ask for presentations held in Swedish or in English; suggestions for whole sessions should be monolingual either in Swedish or in English.
  Please send your proposal (no more than 400 words and containing your institutional affiliation) to stsstockholm@gmail.com by February 15, 2012. Inquiries are also welcome at this address.

• Mitbegründerin der "Berlin Feminist Science Studies Workgroup" (BFSSW) am Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte Berlin
• Die Berlin Feminist Science Studies Workgroup (BFSSW) wurde im Januar 2000 am Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte mit dem Ziel gegründet, ein Netzwerk von WissenschaftlerInnen des Institutes sowie weiterer Berliner Institutionen und Projekte ins Leben zu rufen, die im Feld der Feministischen Wissenschaftsforschung arbeiten. Dieses Netzwerk hat sich inzwischen auf weitere Städte ausgeweitet. Derzeit besteht die Gruppe aus Forschenden in unterschiedlichen institutionellen Kontexten und so unterschiedlichen Disziplinen wie Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Biologie, Psychologie, Umweltwissenschaften, Medizin, Kulturwissenschaften und Philosophie. Die Forschungsaktivitäten der Gruppe konzentrieren sich vor allem auf die Gebiete der Medizingeschichte, Biomedizin, Biologie, Demographie und Epidemiologie, sowie auf verwandte Themen der (feministischen) Naturwissenschaftsforschung, der (feministischen) Wissenschaftstheorie, der post-kolonialen Studien und der Kulturwissenschaften. Die breite interdisziplinäre Zusammensetzung und Ausrichtung der Gruppe spiegelt sich in einem weiten Spektrum von Methoden, Theorien und praktischen Zugängen der Humanwissenschaften, der Sozialwissenschaften, der Naturwissenschaften und der Medizin.
